How to seal a card until the day

  1. 1

    Make the card

Pick the occasion, write your message, and add photos or a song if you like.
  2. 2

    Choose “Keep it sealed until”

Pick the date and the hour. It's your local time, so 8am means 8am where you are when you set it.
  3. 3

    Share the link whenever

Send it now, or the night before. Until the moment arrives, the card shows a countdown instead of your message.
  4. 4

    It opens on the dot

When the time comes, the countdown turns into the envelope and the card plays as normal.

Sealed card or scheduled email?

There are two ways to make a card arrive “on the day”:

Sealed cardScheduled email
When they get the linkWhenever you send itOn the day
Where it landsThe chat you already useTheir inbox, among receipts and newsletters
Their email address neededNoYes
Can they open it earlyNo, they see a countdownThey don't know it's coming

A sealed card has two quiet advantages. You don't need their email address, since you send the link in the chat you already use. And the countdown builds a little anticipation, which a surprise email can't.

Picking the right hour

  • Birthdays: early morning. It's the first thing they see.
  • Anniversaries: the time you met, or the time of the wedding. A sweet detail they'll notice.
  • New Year: midnight, obviously.
  • Exams and interviews: an hour before, as a little good-luck note.

What if I want to change it before it opens?

You can edit the card until they open it: the message, the photos, even the date. The link you already sent shows the new version straight away. Once they've opened it, the card is theirs and stays as it is.

P.S.Quick questions

Is sealing free?
Sealing is part of the fancy card, $4.99 once for that card. A free card opens as soon as they tap the link.
Can they peek before the date?
No. Until the time arrives, the link only shows a countdown and who it's from.
Whose time zone does it use?
Yours, at the moment you set it. If they're far away, pick the hour that will be morning for them.
Can I send it weeks ahead?
Yes. Share the link whenever suits you; the seal holds until the moment you picked.

That's everything you need. The rest is just picking a photo and saying what you mean.
